To All the Libraries I've Loved Before (2)

In honour of UK Libraries Week #LibrariesWeek I thought I’d note a second important library in my life. It’s been maaaany years since I’ve visited this beauty but it was very important to me when I was a new kid in town. Did a lot of photocopying of my passport here to set up bank accounts and get signed up at temp agencies. Used the nearby payphone to find a flatshare, ah ye good olde days. Memorable books borrowed included: Katherine Mansfield’s stories, Keri Hulme’s The Bone People and a random biography of Ovid. I also worked in a bookshop down the road with some of the nicest people in either hemisphere: top sellers there were White Teeth, The Worst Case Scenario Handbook and Bill Granger’s Sydney Food cookbook. Very happy days.
